Anyone who has joined in with the chat in my free shows on MyFreeCams will know that I’m quite libertarian with my views. I’m happy to talk about and laugh about on any topic. But sometimes conversations in the room can get out of hand and it makes me think about imposing a few rules.

We Are All Related

We Are All Related

I have been a camgirl for around 6 months now. I absolutely love this job! It doesn’t feel like a job at all. The way I see it, I just spend time talking to friends old and new. It’s amazing how close I am to some people. When I’m not online I miss my friends.

My room on MyFreeCams is almost always lively and fun. And from time to time we naturally discuss more serious topics likes relationships, race, religion, politics and philosophy. Sometimes conversations can become really heated.

But recently I’ve noticed a trend with a very small minority of people behaving differently in my chat room to how they would with their friends. It seems that certain topics can illicit the worst in some people when they come up.

Those that know me well will know that I hate moaning and complaining, I hate rules and being bossy. However, I have found it sad and disappointing that there have been some incidents of bullying and racism by a tiny minority of people in my room lately.

I love having a laugh and a joke, even on racial topics. I’m sure every body has heard me question my asianess when presented with a maths problem for example! But sometimes it can be take too far.

There is a line that is crossed where a joke becomes offensive and can lead into bullying. In the offline world this almost never happens. Keep pushing someone in the real world after they’ve indicated they’re upset and you’re likely to get a smack in the mouth for your trouble.

But more likely you will see that a person is upset by what you have said, backtrack and applogise for taking things too far. Everyone has different limits of what’s acceptable. It’s so much harder to be sensitive to the feelings of others in the online world, but I hope we can all try. Me included.

So all I ask is that everyone be respectful of each other. Be human. Have a joke, be fun and speak your mind. But when someone is upset, be compassionate and respectful of other peoples feelings.

There is no need for any racist bullying in my room or any other type of bullying. Yes everyone is different with our own individual and group strengths and weaknesses, but we are all far more similar that you would ever believe. Just watch the video above to find out how similar (and related) we really are. It will really open your eyes.

To finish, I was thinking about whether I should impose any room rules on my MyFreeCams chats, I decided my room only has one rule: be nice.

Be nice or Dont be a dick is a good policy to have. But maybe you need a short bullet list of things you dont accept under any circumstances just to have the ease of mind to say: “sorry, you broke my nono list i have to kick you” On the other hand having rules makes you enforce them cause if you dont follow then why wuld someone else? And that might lessen your enjoyment and add a healthy dosage of “job feeling” into what you do in mfc..

I agree with Sugarmup, a short list or general guidelines would be good idea. Unfortunately there is an element that just want to see how quickly they can get banned and push it until they do. They can bring a room down in the process. You usually seem to handle very well, I would end up snapping at them but that is what they want.

Be Nice is a good policy. Maybe create a small general list on your MFC profile, like Mupp said, may help create guidelines for that too considering how some of our room discussions can become a flame war. Just things that say not to attack people with different views and be willing to listen, etc. People come from all walks of life but everyone should be having fun on MFC.
