China’s Call to Young Men: Your Nation Needs Your Sperm
China is facing a population crisis as their younger generations don’t have the numbers to replace the dwindling older generations in the workforce. Although they recently changed their 1 Child policy to now allow households to have two children, it’s simply not enough and sperm banks are running shortages.
The Chinese culture, based around Confucius teachings, go against a lot of things sperm donation stand for. There is also belief that sperm production is related to vitality in China, so men are reluctant to part with it in such a clinical way.
Sperm banks are adding cash incentives to donate, with some even offering up iphones as a reward. The government are hoping the new set of posters calling on Chinese patriotism will increase the number of men donating sperm.

China’s ‘naked loans’ force female students to bare all in return for more cash
Loan sharks in China have started asking young women for naked photos, to be used as collateral, in exchange for higher loans. The idea is that if the loan is not repaid in time, they will release the photos which feature the women naked and holding their ID cards.
The loans that are offered often come with ridiculously high interest rates, and young females who often have little financial awareness end up with massive debt they can’t pay off. The companies are certainly targeting young, inexperienced women. Some were left to beg and borrow from families and friends to help pay off the high debt, to stop the shaming photos being released online.
Jiedaibao, the online platform used for loan sharing between private individuals, originally claimed they had no control over the content of loan deals between two users on their platform. They have now stated that they condemn any such actions by loan sharks and will work with police to stop it.
