This week in the news everyone is talking about PewDiePie evicted from home after “gay sex” mistake, as well as how teenage boys feel about porn.

Whilst making one of his popular youtube videos, PewDiePie’s landlord mistook the noises coming from his room to be sounds of gay sex. In a statement PewDiePie states

“I made a video, landlord thought I was having gay sex. Next day evicted w/o previous notice,”

Most people would argue against the conviction, as it breaks quite a few laws. However PewDiePie decided that he didn’t want to live in the home of a homophobic landlord. His situation is also helped by the fact he’s financially stable enough to buy several homes at any point.

Over half of teenage boys think sex portrayed in porn is real

I wanted to write about this article because it’s the type of article I hate the most. It attacks porn without evidence, and quite frankly, is lazy journalism. It’s also a topic I’ve covered a few times on social media.

A new study was published in the UK showing results of 53 percent of teenage boys and 39 percent of teenage girls, all ages 11 to 16, think sex portrayed in porn is real. It then goes further to find out 44 percent of boys and 29 percent of girls said porn gave them ideas for sex acts they want to try out.

The article warns that a lot of porn is “overly aggressive and misogynist” and mentions “I haven’t seen many actors in porn films discuss consent” which alludes to quite a few negative things that simply isn’t true with porn.

A lot of porn I have watched includes an interview with the girls at the start, or a short interview at the end. I know for a fact that most of the harder BDSM websites such as kink.com put them there to show that the acts are completely consensual.

Porn is also only misygnist if that’s what you chose for it to be. I don’t think any other industry can beat porn for the amount of diversity and inclusion it has. There’s normal porn, gay porn, trans-porn, interracial porn and the list if basically endless. If the author is so against misogyny they should try watching a bit of femdom.

I also want to point out that women have orgasms in porn. I can’t remember the last time I watched a porno where the girl didn’t cum. People want to see the girl cum. How is showing women having pleasure misogynist? It’s certainly not unrealistic. Female orgasms aren’t a myth, and if porn makes people think “yeah, women should be orgasming” then that’s a good thing.

Do you believe porn gives people unrealistic expectations of sex? If by unrealistic they mean sex that involves more than just the missionary position. Or if by unrealistic they mean sex where two adults are able to try out their fantasies without being worried of judgement. If by unrealistic they mean the woman having an orgasm.

Sex in porn isn’t fictional sex. There isn’t a fictional penis going into a fictional vagina. It’s true that if you deliver pizza to a girl’s slumber party, you probably won’t be invited into an orgy. But it is true that if young boys and girls are looking to porn as of getting answers to their questions about sex, their education from school and their parents isn’t good enough.
