For all gamers out there, there’s a new kid on the block. That’s right, Harriet Sugarcookie has joined the world of online gaming. Add me as a friend on Playstation with my PSN HarrietSugarC, or join my community PawnstarsPlayGames.

This year I started to get back into videogames. It’s taken a while for me to get back into the swing of using a console, but my PS4 is now fully set up to play online. I even created a community (whatever one of those is) called Pawnstars Play Games. I would have used the word “pornstar” but Sony deemed it too rude.

To add me as a friend, just search for my PSN which is HarrietSugarC

Along with setting up my playstation ID ready to join the online community, I’m also hoping to get a forum up on my website so that we can have interesting discussion on another media platform.

I thought, if I’m going to do this online gaming thing, I might as well do it properly. When I was growing up, I didn’t own a Playstation or Xbox, but I played with my friends who did own them. It feels amazing to have my own now, and it’s so exciting being able to keep up with new games and join along with a whole community I’d never really taken part of before.

I love the idea of online gaming. It looks like a lot to figure out for a tech newbie like me. For instance, how do you get the microphone to work when you’re playing together? Do I need to get a gaming headset? How do I stop dying?

Of course, non of that matters until I’ve made some friends online to play with in the first place. I think a big draw to online gaming for me is the fact I don’t have to do things alone. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes it’s nice to play a game by yourself, such as No Man’s Sky, which I love. However I’m just incredibly excited to play with more people.

Now I just need to figure out what games to play. I’m a hack and slash kind of girl. If you’ve ever managed to catch me on Twitch, you’ll know that I suck at first person shooters. I’m totally open to suggestions, and I even think that with a bit of practice, I’ll be able to get ok at shooters.

Games I’ve played a tiny bit of:

No Man’s Sky

Star Wars Battlefront

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate

Little Big Planet 3

Witcher 3

Games I haven’t played yet:

Grand Theft Auto V

Grim Fandango

Rocket League

Uncharted 4

The Evil Within

Until Dawn

I would love any recommendations for games that I should get, look out for, or getting hyped about. If you own a PS4 and play any of these games online, then add me as a friend and invite me to a quest or mission. I look forward to seeing you in the community and can’t wait to discuss all things videogame!

  • Already added you as a friend (nycacorp), how could I not :) Will join the community also, you probably could’ve gotten away with P0rnstarsPlayGames replacing o with zero just to break up the word (just my suggestion). You can also setup a group chat community using for voice and text chat

As for games, we have a similar style of game play, more strategy, puzzle, melee, RPG then FPS; and because of that I’ll be paying extra special attention to your recommendations. You just tell me a game you like & I’ll probably go out and get it just so I can play online with you :) I suggest becoming an Amazon Affiliate so you can get commission off recommended game sales.
But, games you might like, which may also be multiplayer would be
    Tamriel Unlimited (Open world Skyrim),
    7 days to die,
    Dynasty Warriors
    Diablo III: Reaper Of Souls,
Lara Croft And The Temple Of Osiris,
    Assassin’s Creed Unity,
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
    Dying Light,
    Star Trek Online,
    FIFA 17
    Street Fighter
    Pacman 256
    Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare,

Can’t wait to play with you, one bad gamer to one decent gamer who channels her frustration into intensified enemy destruction.

Haha I tried P0rnstars but it didn’t let me use that either

I’m so jealous, I want to die. I’m an avid gamer, but It’s hard to things right if you are not exactly rich. I do play on the NDS console… On an emulator on android, that is. We used to own–I used to own a Gameboy Advance, but it was pawned by me Dad when he caught us skimping off school to play Pokemon. Wow, that brought me back a ways.
Anyways, best of luck with the whole gaming lark. Believe me, once you start on the really great games, real life will seem dull in comparison. At least, that’s what happened to me.

    • Gaming does seem to take up a lot of time. I’m really enjoying what I’m doing with it at the moment. That being said, I only play for a little bit at a time. I can really see how it can become totally addictive. I can understand the idea of life seeming dull – I used to get really sad after finishing a good book, because you get sucked into another world through it, and when it’s over, it’s like, oh back to my own reality

The Uncharted series is probably the only games that I play on my PS4. I’ve completed them all numerous times and I keep on going back so I can get the Platnium Trophies. Until Dawn is OK, but very predictible if you watch allot of old horror movies.

    • I haven’t played the uncharted games yet – I will have to check them out!!

      • darkguyver

I’d highly recommend them as Nathan Drake acts allot like Nathan Fillion.

        • fhujalt

I find Nathan Drakes stoic comments insufferable.

  • Vlad

Did you play MOBA like dota or LoL ?

  • wan2joke

  • mudkipz

My main platform of choice is PC thus any multiplayer knowledge on that console is limited to what I play on PC and I know is on PS4 too. Some games do have cross-platform so Xbox, PS & PC gamers can play together, I know the Division has it, Street Fighter V, DCUO (MMO based on DC comics, may be wrong but I believe they were introducing this when I still played and it is on all major platforms now, it’s free to play too). As someone who owns all current major consoles, I still pretty much only play PC unless a game is exclusive to a console, so not much help here sorry.

  • DJThunderGod

Most of my gaming is done using either Steam or Origin (EA’s online platform), since I’m a PC user. Is it possible to get onto either of those with a console? If you can, send me a friend request (which goes for anyone reading this).

  • UltraSwede

Bloodborne seems like it would be up your alley — amazing atmosphere, hack and slash goodness, and some (limited) multiplayer elements. If you like Lovecraftian horror, it’s the bee’s knees. If you’re in a single player mood, I HIGHLY recommend The Last Guardian. The controls can be frustrating at times, but it’s one of the most memorable games I’ve ever played.

If you want to truly prove yourself in the realm of online gaming, there’s no better candidate than Elite Dangerous. It’s a 1:1 scale cutthroat space trading & combat simulation which casts “you” (The player) as space pilot starting out with a miniature space craft & a small amount of money exploring an vast galaxy and it encompassing 400 million star systems furthering yourself through legal/illegal trading, bounty hunting, piracy and inter-planetary minding and assassination. The game is primarily PC orientated but there are distributions to the other current gen gaming platforms.
