New research could indicate that getting a vasectomy could give men higher sex drives. In other news, new Indian app tackles porn addiction with devotional songs, Wes Goodman anti-LGBTI politician resigns after being outed to have sexual relations with another man in office.

A study by Standford University looks into the relationship between vasectomy and sexual frequency. They found that men who had vasectomies on average had sex 5.9 times a month. This is more than the 4.9 average for men who haven’t undergone the surgery.

A similar study done by Frankfurt university concluded “We were able to show the sexual satisfaction of men improved and that of the women did not diminish. The reason is presumably the absence of anxiety of unwanted pregnancies.”

Fewer men, however, are getting vasectomies. NHS figures show that 10,880 vasectomies were performed in 2015/16, down from 29,344 in 2005/6. Experts believe this is because men want to be able to have children later in life.

Indian app tackles porn addiction

Vijay Nath Mishra, a professor of neurology at Banaras Hindu University, has created the app Har Har Mahadev. He hopes it will tackle porn addiction. The professor came up with the idea after noticing behavioural problems with his patients.

Stats show that India is the 3rd highest userbase of adult website Pornhub. The user base also has a higher percentage of female users than the rest of the world.

The app works by playing Hindu chants and prayers any time a user tries to access pornographic or violent material. They hope to expand the app by adding in speeches by Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, and the Bengali poet and Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore.

Although they don’t believe it will cure porn addiction, they hope the app will help people change their habits or at least attempt to.

He has previously stated in his campaigns “The ideals of a loving father and mother, a committed natural marriage, and a caring community are well worth pursuing and protecting.”

Goodman has now resigned from office and released a press statement “That has been true for me, and I sincerely regret that my actions and choices have kept me from serving my constituents and our state in a way that reflects the best ideals of public service. For those whom I have let down, I’m sorry. As I move onto the next chapter of my life, I sincerely ask for privacy for myself, my family, and my friends.”
