“Three judges: district judge Timothy Bowles, immigration judge Warren Grant, and deputy district judge and recorder Peter Bullock have been removed from judicial office following an investigation into an allegation that they viewed pornographic material on judicial IT equipment in their offices,” was stated by JCIO.

The Lord Chancellor has described their actions as “inexcusable” for men in their positions, despite evidence that most men watching porn are often in the same position – that is, sitting down in front of a computer.  The images and videos were found to contain no child pornography, which appears to have come as a surprise to everyone considering the amount of attention this little detail has brought up in all the articles currently published.

Although no illegal content was found, and non of the judges had actually broken a law, it’s been concluded that their behaviour was “wholly unacceptable conduct for a judicial office-holder”. Non-office holders however seem to be ok still, and no investigation has been conducted into the porn watching habits of cubicle office workers.

Interestingly enough, several studies have shown that at least a third of men have at one point tried accessing pornographic content from their workplace. In 2013 it was revealed that there were 300,000 attempts to access pornographic content from inside the Houses of Parliament.

Guardian comment about judges in porn scandal

Public reaction to the situation has ranged from pure outrage at corruption amongst the judges and demands for “harsh sentences” to other claiming watching porn on work time is no different to using facebook or doing online shopping.

Redditor yaffle53 speculates that they were purely trying to “stand up in court”. Twitter users commenting on the BBC article are more liberal, some questioning how watching porn would effect the judges decision making process. The overall consensus however is that (these) government officials are simply wankers.
