It’s time for our roundup of the very best sex stories in the news this week. We have more on the ongoing sex-for-rent hysteria, you get to find out the crazy new sex trend that you really shouldn’t do to your penis and this has been a bumper week for nudity too.
Up first, sex-for-rent stories are back in the news. You may remember lots of controversy surrounding landlords in the UK that advertise vacant properties on Craigslist (of course) as available for free if you have sex with the landlord when they want it.
Homeless charities, politicians and journalists went crazy for the story, each using it for their own ends. Truth is the practice is not new. Craigslist has always carried all manner of ads for sexual services and desires. Pretty sure we’ve all seen these when looking for a new apartment and wondered if they ever get responses.
The latest news is that British Member of Parliament, Peter Kyle, wants to stop the “exploitative adverts” according to the BBC.
After taking the case to the Ministry of Justice Kyle was told, “such acts/arrangements are already a criminal offence in England and Wales by virtue of the Sexual Offences Act 2003”.
Mr Kyle said, “This is an incredibly significant moment, and it’s going to protect vulnerable people enormously.
“Right now there are people out there advertising accommodation in return for sex. I want to see them prosecuted; I want to see them go through the courts process; I want to see them convicted, and I want to see them go to jail.”
At Harriet Sugarcookie we wonder if this is the start of a wider clampdown on sexual ads you can find online. In the UK advertising of sexual services and jobs is much more open that it is in the US. We may go back to using code words and euphemisms, or perhaps this is a nothing story just updated to get traffic to newspapers and boost the profile of Hove MP Mr Kyle and Centrepoint homeless charity?
Please don’t do this to your penis before sex
The strangest story of the week is reported as a new sex trend but after further reading looks like it came from a press release by a bizarre company called Jiftip.
The company are trying to sell men on the idea of gluing the tip of their penises shut before they have sex as an alternative to contraception.
The company’s website says, “The tip is where most of your headaches come and go.
“Want to keep out foreign invaders and send eager baby-seeds back to their room? Jiftip seals the part nature can’t protect.”
In our opinion the company markets this product in a dangerous way. Dressing it up in the language on safe sex then hiding behind excuses like “It won’t work for everyone. It’s beta!” and even “Not approved to prevent pregnancy or STI’s.”
So guys, please, don’t glue start gluing the ends of your penis shut anytime soon. At least, check with a doctor whether this works or not before using any new contraceptive technique.
Nudity corner
Newspapers love a good nudity story and so do we. They’re just impossible not to click, specially when you’re looking for a distraction at the office. Our favourite this week is the one about naked beggers in New York that police cannot arrest. Actually they’re street entertainers and arresting them is not seen as a priotity and it’s a nothing story. But it’s worth a look, they’re super hot.
Next up, Sprint Airlines had to delay a flight because of a naked passenger. Seemingly he boarded the plane and just took his clothes off. The flight was delayed while they waited for police to remove him from the plane. More here.
And finally, a man in Lawrence, USA was arrested twice in one day for walking through the downtown neighborhood totally naked. No even a pair of shoes one imagines. Full story here
