This week there are big changes at Sugarcookie.com – we got rid of all the porn. That’s right, there is now no more porn on this site, but don’t panic, it’s not going very far away. All the porn is being moved to Sugarcookie.xxx while Sugarcookie.com will be upping it’s game as a men’s lifestyle magazine.
Why is the porn gone?
It sounds a little extreme to get rid of all the porn when Sugarcookie started out as a porn site. And it’s a move that’s left many wondering why?. But I promise you by the end of this article it’ll all make sense.
Because the porn isn’t gone exactly. It’s just moved. To a very easy to remember domain Sugarcookie.xxx
All current subscriptions will be transferred over so you won’t lose any porn either.
Please notice me Google Senpai
Surprising no one at all is the fact that porn sites get heavily censored online. Search engines such as a Google will categorise you as pornography and only rank you accordingly for pornographic search terms. Which is great for porn sites that want to rank for things like blowjob, anal rimming or Valetina Nappi scissoring Harriet Sugarcookie.
But not so great if you’re writing articles promoting mental health awareness or grooming tips for men with beards. Because Google will just ignore you. Google will also ban you from entering Google News because it doesn’t believe a porn site could also write newsworthy articles.
Most articles at Sugarcookie are completely unrelated to pornography. We’ve never considered ourselves a typical pornsite and we’ve always tried to provide a well rounded experience for our audience. We don’t believe it’s fair for those articles to be penalised because of how Google has categorised our site.
We write a lot of articles we believe have a positive impact on people and we believe it’s important these articles get to a wider audience.
Censorship overboard
It’s not just Google that penalises our site and non-porn content for being associated with pornography either. The level of censorship we face from corporations is insane when you consider that what we write about is constitutionally protected free speech in the United States.
Our payment providers work with using VISA and Mastercard so we have to play by their censorship rules. That means that an article we write explaining the origins of tentacle porn in hentai is classified as promoting beastiality, rather than an informative discussion about art. So if we write about it, then Visa and Mastercard will stop us taking payments through their network.
By separating our articles and our pornography we don’t have to play by those rules anymore. Our articles will be free from censorship, exactly the same as it is for any other media.
It will also mean our social media accounts on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram won’t get deleted when we share our articles. Currently we get deleted at random because they think we’re sharing links to pornography (we’re not, we’re asking people why their balls itch).
UK Age Verification
Whilst we’re on the topic of censorship, let’s not forget good old Britain’s upcoming censorship via its ludicrous Age Verification regime. We’ve been following it closely since it was first proposed. We’ve worked around what we know as much as possible, but ultimately we can’t find a way to make our non-porn content work alongside our porn content under the new laws.
Rather than isolating and blocking all our users from the UK, we’ve made it so everyone can still access our articles without having to age verify first. That means you don’t have to prove your age if you want to read up on our articles about prostate cancer awareness or if you want to know if squirting is pee. Articles that have been picked up by mainstream media outlets that are not censored despite using us as a source.
It’s a good thing
Despite the fact I’ve talked almost exclusively censorship, this move to separating our magazine site from our porn site is definitely a good thing. It means we’ll be able to better tailor the experience you have Sugarcookie.com and Sugarcookie.xxx
That means more articles on more topics which we will be able to freely and candidly report on. It means you can browse Sugarcookie.com in public without feeling embarrassed. It means we can collaborate more without the stigma of pornography to hold us back.
Sugarcookie.xxx has also been streamlined so that your porn browsing experience is better than ever. If Sugarcookie.com is the white, clean version, Sugarcookie.xxx is the black naughty version. It’s slicker, more efficient and colour optimised for browsing at night (if you know what I mean). It’s now be better for mobile users, streaming is now in 4k and the site is decluttered so you can always find what you’re looking for when you want it the most.
