Is squirting pee? That’s a question that a lot of people, both men and women, have often asked themselves, as there are a lot of myths about what happens when a girl squirts during sex. Rather than just ponder what the answer might be to the age old question, we decided to take matters into our own hands, putting on a homemade test of our own.
That’s why we reached out to sex-positive feminist Kaia and pornstar Shona River, as well as sex educator Lola Jean — the squirting queen herself — to see exactly what squirting actually is. So how did we exactly get to the bottom of this whole is squirting pee question? We actually had Lola pee and squirt into cups while Shona watched, just to make sure there was no cheating. What were the results? Watch the video above to see for yourselves.
Many people that squirting is pee, but, as the video shows us, the two are clearly different bodily fluids, with Lola talking about the difference in feeling between one and the other. Does that change your mind on the perception of what squirting is? Maybe, but maybe not. Here’s a bit more info for you to better understand things.
Where does squirt liquid come from?
No one really knows definitively where squirting liquid comes from, but a common part of the vagina that experts relate it to is the Skene’s gland — which are located on the upper wall of the vagina, near the lower end of the urethra (which could explain why some researchers say squirting is actually just peeing).
Many believe that “Skene’s glands are the cause of female ejaculation and G-spot orgasms,” the University of Aquila in Italy, told Jezebel.
But the science is sketchy due to a lack of research, which is why we’re lucky to have sex educators like Lola Jean who are willing to treat their body like a human science experiment.
Is squirting normal?
It’s believed that nearly half of women who have sex have experienced a squirting at some point in their life, so there’s nothing abnormal about it at all. Considering there’s no direct answer about what squirting liquid is or what causes it, both guys and girls should embrace it if and when it happens.
Sex is supposed to be pleasurable and fun, and, if squirting occurs, it usually means both things are happening — but not all girls can do it, so no one should be ashamed if it does or doesn’t happen.
Is squirting pee, or not?
Much like our video above showed, many people have wondered if squirting is pee. In fact, just a couple of years ago, there was the first major study to explore the topic, which was published by a research team in France. In the end, the liquid that the seven women who took part in the study was extremely similar to pee. Still, as our video above shows, and Kaia says, the two bodily fluids are different in many ways. Based off of what Lola has said, it would seem as if squirting is, in fact, not pee.
