Is my penis normal? That’s a question that many guys seem to ask themselves more frequently than we’d like to admit. It’s not that we think something’s necessarily wrong — well, hopefully — it’s that we have no idea what a so-called “normal” penis is supposed to look like.
That means we find ourselves comparing length, girth, ball size, pubes, etc., only to realize that all penises are created differently, so it’s not anything we should worry about. Much like a balding guy who’s worried about how girls will react, it’s important to remember girls don’t care about dick size, and the ones who do aren’t the girls you want to be with.
So, without further ado, here are five signs that indicate if your penis is normal or not — because we want you to be healthy more than anything.
Is there blood? That’s not good
Anytime you bleed from anywhere, that’s usually a bad sign. It’s even worse when it’s coming from your penis and is in your urine, though. Not only is blood in your urine a potentially dangerous sign of kidney stones or an enlarged prostate, but it could be something worse like bladder cancer!
Is it normal to have night boners?
We’ve told you before about why morning wood is actually a good thing for you, but, believe it or not, it’s not uncommon for many guys to experience “night boners,” with some men actually experiencing three-to-five times per night. We may not remember them all, but they can be caused by a number of factors related to stress or anxiety, among other things. In fact, if you don’t get night boners, you may have erectile dysfunction and you should talk to a doctor.
Is itchy penis normal?
There are often times when guys find themselves just scratching away beneath the belt, either playing with their balls or straight up getting rid of an itch on their penis. In most cases, it might not be anything at all. But, if the itching persists, it’ll be time to call up your doctor and get things under control, as that itch could be something like a fungal infection or, worse, an STI like herpes.
Spots should be taken care of
OK, so not all spots are signs that something bad’s happening to your penis, but, when you experience any pain from any occurring on your penis or scrotum, it could be from an STI that should be taken care of immediately. The most common kind of STIs which produce spots are herpes or syphilis, and meds will need to be taken to get rid of those.
My erection’s longer than four hours, what do I do?
First off, do not freak out and start finding someone to have sex with to get your penis “back to normal.” Instead of doing all that, one trick might be to ice it and then climb stairs before going to see a doctor. That’s right, guys who have an erection last longer than four hours might have a rare condition called priapism — which needs fast treatment. Climbing stairs can help draw blood from your penis and into the rest of your body, helping priapism go away.
