Waterproof shoes are lifesavers during this time of year. As someone who lives in an area where it rains a lot during the fall, winter and early spring, I can tell you firsthand that having a pair of sneakers that repels rain have made my feet really happy over the years.

Since it’s that time of year where guys are torn between being fashionable and functional, I figured it might be helpful to give some of the top-rated waterproof shoes for guys this year. Trust me, your day is always better when you get to work with dry feet while all the other suckers in the office are complaining about how drenched theirs are.

Crocs Men’s Citilane Roka Chukka Boot

Yep, the first waterproof shoe I’ve got listed is one from Crocs! Get over yourself, guys, because these things are ideal for any dude who wants to combine substance with style. Having two pairs of my own, the Crocs Men’s Citilane Roka Chukka Boot has become by go-to shoe during the fall and winter months, pairing perfectly with a pair of slacks or jeans. There are some issues with breathability — as your sock can feel a little sweaty if worn for an entire day — and, because the bottoms are latex, they get worn quickly and can be slippery on surfaces like brick or crosswalk paint, but, overall, these are my top-rated waterproof shoe.

Saloman Speedcross 4 GTX

More of a trail or outdoor sneaker than one you’d see in the city or office, the Saloman Speedcross 4 GTX might look like a tank compared to the other waterproof shoes on this list, but that’s because it acts like one against any rainy conditions. Not only do the Speedcross 4 GTX keep your feet dry, but they’re also engineered to provide better grip, a better fit and superb cushioning thanks to a special lacing system called Salmon’s Sensifit, which provides a snug fit around the foot. The Contragrip tech for traction will basically guarantee you’re safe from sliding around wet surfaces.

New Balance 910V4 GTX

One of the complaints I made about the aforementioned Crocs chukka is the lack of grip on the bottom of the shoe on certain surfaces. Well, with the New Balance 910V4 GTX, you don’t really need to worry about that, because its outsole’s made from HydroHesion rubber, which is purposely designed to provide tough grip on wet surfaces. With a pretty cool design, too, these definitely aren’t your dad’s old New Balances.

Brooks Ghost 10 GTX

I’ve been a big-time supporter of Brooks for a long time, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that I added the brand’s Brooks Ghost 10 GTX to this list of top-rated waterproof shoes. Sure, it might be a little bit of self-promotion — after all, these are my current running shoes — but, hey, that just means I believe in what I wear myself, right? Arguably, the most popular running shoe that Brooks makes, the Gore-Tex membrane provides protection and breathability, which is perfect for a jog or while walking around picking pumpkins.

Freewaters Freeland Boot

With the capability to withstand a nice long hike, or to pair with some jeans for a casual Friday in the office, the Freewaters Freeland Boot is a perfect shoe for guys this fall. Thanks to its extra thick midsole cushioning that was inspired by performance running shoes, your feet will feel comfortable all day, while also staying dry.
