Super Mario Odyssey is one of the most popular games on the Nintendo Switch console, with gamers taking Mario and Cappy using Mario’s hat to possess other characters and objects on their mission to save Princess Peach from Bowser. Unfortunately, but hilariously, hackers are making the game one that’s more suitable for adult audiences.

That’s because, as the headline of the article says, hackers have found a way to upload porn to Super Mario Odyssey, as users have found a way to customize their avatars, with a Reddit user taking to the forum to warn parents of the hack.

As pointed out by another user on this sub, it seems hackers have found a way to insert indecent content into our children’s games.

It seems to be an issue with users’ profile pictures.
The picture was changed several times over the course of my time patrolling, each picture being pornographic content.
There are multiple of these balloons all being made by the same user.
This is obviously intentional, and made to upset children.

Since we find this to be pretty funny, you can see examples of the X-rated images, via Reddit, here and here. Of course, they’ve been blocked out, though, but, still, they give an idea of what some of the Nintendo Switch users are seeing.

According to Polygon, the porn images appears to be limited to just Super Mario Odyssey’s Luigi’s Balloon World mode, which was released as a free update to users earlier this year after the initial release of the game last November. The balloons normally include avatars of other Nintendo characters, but hackers have found a way to get past that with the dirty pics.

The Polygon piece points out that hackers have found ways to load the developer software of the Nintendo Switch, DevMenu, on retail consoles somehow, which is allowing them to create the porn pics. The DevMenu leak was made public on a community board for Nintendo Switch hackers, with a developer kit available for purchase on eBay.

As of right now, there’s not much Super Mario Odyssey users can do about the porn images, as hackers can continue to modify avatars since they have the necessary firmware. Maybe it’s just our humor, but this is hilarious to us, so here’s to online gaming hackers continue to make life hell for parents who spoil their kids with Nintendo Switch.
