We all know that blind dates can be super awkward. It’s only natural, too, as two people are set up by friends, family or coworkers to randomly meet because they think the two people will get along. That can lead to a strange night, or it can lead to great success.
Although the idea of a blind date might be daunting, there are examples of them going well. For instance, just look at some of the A-list celebrities who have found relationships after being set up by someone else. You may not think blind dates are for you, but maybe these celeb couples will change your might and make you be more open about going on one.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry
Yep, believe it not, but Meghan Markle and Prince Harry actually met thanks to taking a chance on a blind date. According to a previous interview, the actress said that “it was definitely a set-up… it was a blind date.” As we now know, it seemed to have worked out well, because they’re married after a well-publicized wedding earlier this year. So, who was the one who set these two up? A fashion PR director for Ralph Lauren, Violet von Westenholz, who’s also a childhood friend of Prince Harry.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds
If you’re looking for a celebrity couple that just seems like the perfect relationship, it might be Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, both actors who have accomplished a ton in their careers. One of their best accomplishments outside of work might be going on a blind date together, though, because it, ultimately, led to their marriage. Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Reynolds revealed that the two not only went on a blind date, but it was also a double date with different people. “She was on a date with another guy and I was on a date with another girl,” he explained. “It was the most awkward date for to respective parties because it was just like fireworks coming across the table.”
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel
Maybe it’s just us, but there’s just something about the relationship between singer Justin Timberlake and actress Jessica Biel that make us a little jealous. Sure, it could be the fact that Biel is a bombshell who has a smile that can light up an entire city, but, more so, they just seem like they have lots of fun together — which is a must in any relationship. And, like others on this list, Timberlake and Biel met thanks to a blind date, as the actress’ co-star from the TV show 7th Heaven, Beverley Mitchell, introduced the two at an awards show in 2007. Saying that “they were definitely flirting and that “they were really cute,” the couple eventually got married and now have a son together.
Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen
Tom Brady is, arguably, the greatest quarterback in NFL history. His journey from sixth round draft pick to future Hall of Famer is well-documented, as is his, seemingly, perfect life with supermodel Gisele Bundchen. As it turns out, that last part wouldn’t have happened if the two mega-celebs were never hooked up on a blind date, though. Following Brady splitting with his ex, actress Bridget Moynahan, a close friend of his urged him to go on a date with Gisele. As the story goes, the rest is history.
