Guys are using Instagram to get lucky, and we have the research to prove it

Instagram is a great way to share pics and videos with friends, family members and other random people who search unique hashtags, but it’s also a breeding ground for some seriously “creepy” behavior. We mean that in the most endearing way, too, because we’re all guilty of creeping on someone’s Instagram account, maybe even taking things to another level by sliding into DMs now and again.

To see just how prevalent this kind of activity is, we conducted our own survey, asking guys between the ages of 18-35 to tell us about their Instagram tendencies — or, more so, focusing on their sex habits on the social sharing app. Let’s take a look at some of the results of what we found.

Even guys without Instagram find a way to use it

You might be asking what the hell we’re talking about, but, based off of our findings, even those dudes who don’t actually have an Instagram account — which was only about one in five men — still use it by searching online. In contrast, only 7 percent of girls do the same thing. We also found that 98 percent of guys watch porn, with a, somewhat astounding, 93 percent of girls admitting to doing the same.

So why do guys actually use Instagram?

As mentioned above, most people love Instagram because it can give updates on what’s going on in their lives. Hey, isn’t that what social media’s all about, humble bragging about the places you’re visiting or showing off the killer brunch you’re about to eat?

Based off of our research, here are some of the main reasons guys use Instagram the most.

• 20 percent use it to make their life look good
• 50 perecnt use it because they love photography
• 7 percent of men use it for their business
• 60 percent of men use it to keep up with celebs or public figures
• 28 percent of men use it to look for videos and/or pics to masturbate to
• 7 percent of men use it for dating
• 4 percent of men use it to find escorts

Wait, 28 percent of men use Instagram to try and find masturbation material?

Yes, based off of our findings. According to our study, 20 percent of guys said they do so to the pictures of their friends, with an additional 5 percent even admitting to have masturbated to their friend’s spouses pics.

Additionally, 28 percent of guys masturbate to celebrity or public figures, with most being pornstars or cam girls (27 percent).

So is Instagram still popular for guys to find dates and/or hook up?

Of course it is! Why else do you think so many dudes still slide into DMs and hope they get a response? The practice may have been looked at as strange years ago, but it’s almost accepted these days because it’s so common.

Based off of our study results, here’s some key findings about guys’ Instagram habits when it comes to dating and/or hooking up.

• 14 percent of men have dated someone they met on Instagram
• Oddly enough, though, only 12 percent of men have actually asked girls on a date on Instagram
• 14 percent of men have admitted to having sex with someone they met on Instagram
• Nearly 5 percent of men have paid for sex on Instagram, with 7 percent admitting to paying for nude pics or videos, and 4 percent having paid for webcam shows.
